My friend was a victim to racism between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous. It resulted in a near death attack.

It was -23.5°C. The breeze was light.

A friend I recently met a man named Milton-Bradley Brent Koutecky who moved to Portage la Prairie two years ago from Thompson, Manitoba. Just from reading his name one will assume that he is not of Aboriginal descendant and that is correct! He was a little Czechoslovakian/Ukrainian boy growing up in a highly indigenous populated area. He found it difficult growing up as he found that they were not accepting of him whatsoever, often being chased home by bullies. He did not let this damper his reflection of them and said that each and every significant other he has had to date has been of Indigenous background. Although he was often tormented for being different he still has a different relationship with the Indigenous from growing up with them so close. Now that he is here in Portage he gets a different vibe about having friends of First Nations upbringing. He finds that here people often judge him as a “bad person” or “troublemaker” simply because he chooses to surround himself with the Indigenous.
