Yes, I know I’ve already written a moment about this bench, but having subsequently found this hidden treasure I felt it warranted a moment all of its own!

Hidden away on one end of the bench is this beautiful gilt-edged sparrow.

As Dean explains on his web site, the sparrow “had to be included because of, as Mr Wyndham eloquently stated; ‘their perky indifference to calamity’”.
