We humans like to possess even the most intangible things.

We humans like to possess even the most intangible things. I might capture a beautiful sunset by taking a picture of it, or be moved by a lovely photograph to write a song about it, or make an elusive song my own by adding lyrics to it. I try to hold onto everything by reducing it to words. Peter is the opposite; he’d take my words and turn them into music. Regardless, neither the words nor the music give us true ownership of any moment in time, for each moment belongs solely to itself. It took me a long time to learn that the best art doesn’t capture moments, but sets them free.
