Watching the big boys of Brooklyn play basketball

April 1st, 2013, 8pm

It was 7.8°C. The wind was calm.

exhausted from a long day in the park, we sat down on the uneven cobblestones. our legs tired, our sun-deprived backs heavy. as if watching our life flash before us, we gazed onto the court as the ball appeared and then disappeared. me, in my moment of fleeting parenthood, the kids in their moment of yearning to grow older. their ears twitched each time a holler echoed across the park. the sun was setting. I had my finger on the button, ready to press it. But I didn’t.
