not quite, Sanna...

…I haven’t abandoned this place.

It’s where I come to write when no one’s looking. To project onto the scrim of the web any image that has captured my fancy and my device’s lens; and then to reflect on it.

It’s very meta, this place. Which is why inscribing digital runes and petroglyphs must be a special act, one requiring discipline and… a hewing to the rarefied. ;-) Sure, you may see that as a copout or as flimsy post facto reasoning—but that is really how I’ve treated this space. That it continues to exist is an affirmation. As far as I can tell, it remains free; neither you nor I are bound to pay it anything, not money, nor even heed. But it continues to abide.

I do wonder how you’re doing, from time to time. Our Facebook chats have dropped to nil but maybe that’s a function of the preoccupation of our days. Whenever I read news about Sweden and migrants, I think of you—your former job, your stories, but most of all your drawings.

No, I haven’t left. I simply prefer to be parsimonious with my time and words here… as it is a good place. One not to be sullied with the ordinary.

;-)

I lived in a village and homestead set aside for people of Hawaiian ancestry. I am not Hawaiian but had been adopted into the culture—to my profound gratitude.
