Sunday drive along Tujunga Canyon, Calif.

September 8th, 2014, 4pm

It was 30°C with broken clouds. The breeze was gentle.

Just a few minutes from my home, I decided to take a drive along Big Tujunga Canyon Rd this past Sunday. The clouds were looking magnificent as a storm was slowly approaching that afternoon, sending up huge gray and white puffs as big as a city up over the blue skies.

Tujunga Canyon starts in Sunland and branches off out to Palmdale, or back behind La Crescenta/La Canada, dropping you eventually back down to Foothill via Angeles Crest Hwy.

Evidence of the massive Station fire of 2009 is apparent with the many scorched trees and foundations of homes that were unfortunately hit, with just the chimneys rising up among brick rubble. Some people have rebuilt in the Vogel Flats area.

The view in this shows the concrete arch bridge that spans over Tujunga Creek.

I played with the colors just a bit on this to make it look a little like a vintage postcard, as well as adding a faded border.

David Wade and Christine said thanks.
