I don’t consider myself a very happy person [on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give me a 5, if I were to be honest] without this meaning that I am in fact an unhappy person. My unhappiness, if I were to call it that, has more to do, I think, with not being able to recognise a happy moment even if it hits me on the face. On a theoretical level I know by now (have been on the planet for quite some time) that in the grand scheme of things happiness is not to be found on grand things (like succeeding at your work, or finding the love of your life) but in the sum of numerous little happy moments. Still, these little moments can be quite elusive and hard to notice when you are busy noticing other seemingly grander things or when you fail to really appreciate the moment you are in.

By accepting the challenge of #100happydays I am challenging myself to start noticing those little moments better, evaluating them better in the hope that their sum will make me feel a little happier and in the hope that after 100 days I will have trained myself to notice (and indeed even welcome) happiness when it’s staring me in the face.

My challenge begins today and I will be posting my photos with the hashtag #100happydays on Instagram under the username aurelia.gould and on Tumblr. You can drop by to see how I’m doing and also, why not, challenge yourself!
