An urban wild flower meadow

July 16th, 2014, 10am

It was 22°C with clouds and visibility OK. The wind was light.

One day last week, when on leave and having some time to explore my old stomping ground- the City of London - I was delighted to come across this beautiful area of meadow, containing cornflowers, poppies and giant daisies, in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral. I stupidly didn’t take time to read the sign, but I think this has been planted to serve as a memorial garden.

Whatever the purpose, I’m glad it’s there. A haven of semi-tranquility and a beautiful burst of colour, in the heart of a modern, bustling city. We need more of these!
