Educating a generation

January 23rd, 2016, 12pm

Ashok Kumar Yadav. The long and mature name may not suit this young boy from Bihar who skipped school to reach Ahmedabad to sell Fresh Juice. He is assisting his elder brother who has taken another street nearby for the same business. He does well in his job but my crude question is whether it is poverty that has brought him here or lack of schools in Bihar or just the laziness of not attending the school. He refused to respond saying “Aise hi aaye”. When we say education for all, we may just be skipping the real issue why despite having free education, free mid day meals and free books, kids just don’t go to school. The plain answer may be the schools are not interesting enough. But the real answer may be something else we don’t know.

Adrian and Ishan said thanks.
