I have a very difficult garden next to apartment on Park Point, this spit of sand between Lake Superior and the bay where I live. A huge tree shades it and roots choke out fancy plants.
This year I’m sowing a big plot of pansy - shade tolerant - in “The Weed Garden”. They grow on my window sill. I germinated the seeds in the dark refrigerator between two moist sheets of paper towel. After 10 days I planted the germinated seeds.
I’ve started snapdragons also - color that will grow in partial shade.
Finally I bought a few seeds of every type of nasturtium I could find on the market - only 5.
