Drawing.

It was 7.2°C with overcast. The breeze was light.

The Met is a beautiful place to explore. Every time we go, we find something new or forgotten. The Met hides surprises in it’s nooks and crannies, and if you’re willing to follow your nose (or a guide) you’ll be rewarded by the exhibits tucked away from the crowd.

Yesterday, it was the Damascus Room that we found. She had been there before on her first tour of the Met, but had forgotten where it was. It’s a period room of a late Ottoman-period residential winter chamber from Damascus, Syria. The room, complete with restored paneling, marble, and working fountain, is tucked away in the corner among a deep collection of Middle Eastern art. And it’s well worth finding.
