Impromptu field trip today.

April 17th, 2014, 8pm

It was 17.2°C with few clouds. There was moderate breeze.

I’m always the last to know about these things, but today my aunt and father dragged almost all of my siblings to Richmond to see the “Rosie the Riveter” WWII memorial. One of my sisters was lucky to escape. My dad’s family has a heavy history of involvement with the labor unions, mainly the Teamsters and Longshoreman, so today we drove across the bay to Marina Bay to visit the memorial dedicated to women who worked during wartime. I learned most of this in high school, as well as stories from my dad about growing up in San Francisco; but my aunt says she wants to be a tour guide when she retires, so we let her give my sisters the history lesson.
