Beauty in Simple Things

My washing machine broke down the other day and I had to do the washing like our grandparents used to -by hand.

It wasn’t much fun really, until I realised that even this simple scene had beauty in it.

As Virginia Woolf once wrote: “Let us not take for granted that life exists more fully in what is commonly thought big than in what is commonly thought small.

I stopped what I was doing, and went to get my sketchbook.
