Fat bike trail riding.

December 22nd, 2013, 12pm

It was -8.3°C with overcast. The breeze was gentle.

I’m learning to do this. I compare it to learning to drive in the snow. You take your time… Much slower than a typical mountain bike ride. It is quiet, the snow crunches under your tires. It is peaceful.

And then, you find yourself crashing off the trail, face deep in powder. The crashes are much more forgiving than regular mountain biking, unless you encounter a tree.

I love this for what it is, something new, different. A way to get out in the dead of winter and find a new perspective in a familiar place.
