Out at the edge of the world the stars rise and set unseen; where the plants are born to die...

May 16th, 2016, 10am

It was 10°C. The breeze was light.

I had come to sit in the void, to watch the clouds fight & pile up on each other. To be an audience to the vast nothingness and let the stillness seep down into my marrow. But instead my brain was stuck in the place I had escaped from. Like the ceaseless gusts of wind tearing across the playa, my body wouldn’t stop moving; cleaning breakfast dishes, fiddling with camera gear, making another cup coffee. It occurred to me that my mind is a changeable landscape, and if I managed to bring the clamor of the city to the desert, perhaps I could harness that power and take the quiet home with me.

With a deep breath, I begin again.
