In my 10th grade English Class, we have been exploring the ideas of famous psychologist, Carl Jung. Carl Jung was inspired by Sigmund Freud and even became his apprentice until they both agreed to split because of disagreements on theories. Carl Jung popularized psychological concepts that would eventually become an influence to psychology today. He also compiled his archetypal drawings and ideas in his journal, The Red Book which was recently (as of 2009) discovered from his family and scanned to be published. Here are some of his many ideas explained:
The Psyche - this refers to the mind or soul of a person
Individuation - Carl Jung believed that humans were “inwardly whole”, however, there are some parts of ourselves that are hidden underneath a realm that separates our conscious mind and our subconscious mind. We understand who we really are by harmonizing the various components of our inner psyche. Once we realize that we are all unique, we are tapping into our “true self”.
