A visit to my parents to pick up my Mum’s yummy rice dumplings, made in preparation for the Dragon Boat Festival, or Tuen Ng Festival.
My parents were excited to show off their very own robin’s nest*, along with six babies. My Dad has a make-shift shed in the garden, with a basket hanging up for his bits and bobs. And the perfect place for a robin to have her eggs and babies. Our garden seems to be the place for rearing chicks - we had a sparrow and five babies a few year’s back. My Mum was rather sad to see them fly off. I hope they come back and visit some times. This robin is certainly a regular in the garden, and is always following my Mum while she gardens.
*Those growing up in the UK in the late 70s/early 80s will recognise the reference to the sitcom, Robin’s Nest. I fear I may be showing my age - I was a kid though!
