Walking around the Capitol Reflecting Pool I came across this child and who I can only assume was his mother. He had climbed up onto the side of the Reflecting Pool. He got down on his knees and was reaching into the frozen pool for an icicle. He teetered on the edge, rocking up on his knees. Nearly tumbling over and into the icy waters more than once, he was triumphant and clutched his hard-won icicle proudly. All the while his mother yelling at him in a tongue foreign to my own.
What are we all doing here anyway?
