This lighthouse, in Happisburgh on the North Norfolk coast (not in Norwich, as suggested above), is exactly how a lighthouse should look, in my ever-so-humble opinion.
Red and white stripes seem traditional to me, at least in the UK, presumably because my earliest memories are of seeing lighthouses painted like this.
Isn’t it funny how what we see first becomes the standard against which we judge every subsequent example of the same thing. Are lighthouses red and white in other countries too, I wonder?
