By day, reporters and onlookers stand around while moving trucks and nursery home vans drive in and out.

It was 22°C with few clouds. There was moderate breeze.

By night, mounds of trash bags appear on the street, as relics from the past decades are put out. Some, like these dishes, might find new homes.

This is the last remaining Dojunkai apartment, built after the 1923 Kanto Earthquake to meet demands for collective housing. It’s being demolished this year.

I live next door. It made me happy over the years to see people coming to take pictures of this dilapidated giant but I never managed to become more than another face in the crowd. Now it’s too late, and as I dodge yet another camera on my way to the station, I wonder if it’s time for me to find a new home, too.
