Leaving wishes at the Wave Organ.

February 17th, 2014, 1pm

The wave organ crouches at the end of a rocky spindle that curls around the small craft harbor. When we arrive, it’s crawling with tourists, their chatter drowning the low moan of the ocean. Still, we are on a mission.

Most of the good hiding spots are stuffed with intricately folded paper. We unfurl a few, savoring strange wishes. Replace them as best we can. One contains only the scribbled skyline. Perfect.

Once our secrets are safely committed to paper, I wedge mine deep out of sight. Moose has a different idea. With a few furtive movements, he manages to affix the paper to a long-abandoned cobweb now dangling from the stone roof. Somehow, it manages to stay afloat, twisting slightly in the breeze: a gift, however long it may last.
