Evening hike through Whitemud Ravine. The light was swift and lovely.

July 11th, 2014, 8pm

Whitemud Ravine in July. The long summer evening light seems made for this place. It’s a flat, accessible trail that quickly removes the city from concern. Traffic gives way to birdsong, human voices are replaced by steps on the trail, and if you’re present, you may see deer slinking about in the distant aspen and birch. Back in March I came across two moose feeding in the trees - I was no more than 30 feet from them.

Tonight the light is enough.
