Ski touring through Sarek National Park, Arctic Sweden.

March 27th, 2012, 2pm

Sarek is possibly the last true wilderness left in Western Europe, there are no permanent structures, no vehicles, almost no people (we saw none for nearly 6 days), but tons of wildlife; from reindeer to wolverines. It’s absolutely beautiful, but being more than 67 deg North and exposed, can get viciously cold.

Here we’re on our second day of skiing on a plateau between Sitojaure and Aktse, with fully laden pulks (sleds) containing all of our supplies for the two weeks - food, fuel, sleeping bags, a tent and plenty of extra clothing.

Conor, Dan and Christine said thanks.
