Fiddling Blue Grass and soothing Bourbon

August 7th, 2013, 2am

It was 22.2°C with broken clouds. The breeze was light.

The lines and the never ending mystique of Manhattan’s secret doors sometimes give away to a glimpse into something special.

What’s even more incredulous to me last night was the island’s million untold stories of immigrants in the 21st Century. At a time of heated debates about immigration reform and putting up silly fences on the border, walk into this bar and try the bartender’s best cocktail and it makes you wonder what else can we learn from San Jalisco.

As I sat there imbibing a southern drink invented by a genius from South of the border and listening to Blue Grass with yet another immigrant friend, I couldn’t help but imagine what those days of battering immigrants on Ellis Island must’ve been…
