At first, this little alley seemed a little bit unwelcoming. It was narrow and gloomy, surrounded by wood planked walls. As I remember, the only lights were coming from the entrance sign and an old lamp above the front door. After a few steps, we reached the door, and as soon we opened it, the owner and his wife welcomed us so warmly we forgot the dark alley.
A few salarymen were settled around the U-shaped bar, enjoying their dishes and their drinks, while chatting about work and daily life stuff.
We were invited to have a seat and we immediately ordered two fresh nama beers. As we were given the dishes menu, my eyes began to sparkle and my stomach to rumble. A sweet smell of cooking food was wafted from the kitchen.
↑ Great spot to feel all the athmosphere of the place
We spent a few hours to enjoy various dishes and drinks. The owners were adorable.

↑ Glass of nihonshu
I have always enjoyed speding time in izakayas. I think they are one of the best places to really feel Japan at its roots. This one, called kisaichi, is one of the most authentic I ever been to. It was a great night, a great way to spend my birthday, thanks to someone who is very precious to me.
