...a new asylum seeker policy, too much to bear?

February 11th, 2008, 11am

…the koala, the kangaroo, Crocodile Dundee, backyard bbqs, golden shores, and dazzling sporting success, a few of the things we think of when we think about Australia. Then the politicians offered the world a look at their securely-bordered, unwashed underwear. The Prime Minister’s recent announcement and already initiated plan of action to send those seeking refuge straight to tent city internment in Papua New Guinea has extended my wee list of things I think of when I think about this continental island. A place is the size of North America with only 5% of the population, it’s not like we don’t have the room, or the resources. I was in my car, jammed in traffic, on my way to work, when they started discussing the tents on the radio.

Cassie and David Wade said thanks.
