I'm laying out the pages of my poetry book by hand. Old school. Not because I want to, cause I gotta.

July 17th, 2013, 3pm

It was 28.9°C. The breeze was gentle.

I’m months behind on delivering my Kickstarter book of poetry. Multiple problems leading into the printing which I’m planning to do in-house. I laid the book out in InDesign but can’t get the booklet printing settings to work so the pages would line up correctly for perfect binding. It shouldn’t be so hard. I tried everything I could think of. A long time ago I used to make hand bound poetry books and sell them to shops and galleries in L.A. I had near-mystical experiences around this. Trying to merge my mystical-poetic roots with current technology, current systems. My book has poems, short memoir, my photographs and collages. It’s about my living as an artist/poet and the conflict (also the gift, which sometimes could be seen as a responsibility) of living with that calling in these times. Difficult, to say the least. Just like the making of this book!

I'm an artist and a poet. I'm interested in people living out their callings and what it means to live authentically. One of the aims of my work is to support people in this, by doing it and by talking about it. (lisachun.com) I really love books.
