Her first fish

May 7th, 2016, 6pm

Short, stout rod. Hard to get any distance casting. Added a bobber to the rubber worm on the hook for weight. Got it to the middle of the pond. First quick nibbles, then harder hits. Not much flex to the rod, making it hard to effectively set the hook.

But we eventually got one on, and she reeled it in herself. Giggled, laughed, roared with excitement. She was concerned we’d get the fish off in time so it would live. Once it was free of the hook, we returned it to the pond, waved goodbye, and tried again.
