Commander’s Palace is one of the classic restaurants of New Orleans, and like many historic restaurants in historic towns, fights a battle against its history and present. Even though the restaurant has undergone some changes since it was founded in 1880, it’s classic formula is largely unchanged, and caters to providing the ambiance, service and classic food to fit big events and meaningful occasions.
The Chef’s Table has been in Commander’s since the mid-1990s, and it’s exactly what you would imagine; a table for four in the kitchen, where the chef cooks a twelve course meal just for you and your server attends to all of your needs. It’s a hidden table, right in the middle of everything.

RIP, Melvin
It thrills me with the reminder of why I do what I do--and infuriates me with the reminder that I'll never be able to do it completely.
