Seoul Sunsets

January 2nd, 2014, 3pm

Though Seoul’s winters are the coldest I’ve experienced, the frigid winds that sweep down from Siberia in the deepest recesses of winter keep cloud cover away, allowing vistas much more rare than in the other seasons. Golden hours, shadows, and silhouettes are longer. We walk until we stop, watching from across the urban valleys as the sun sinks sliver by sliver. The warmth from the hot coffee I held seconds before is gone. My fingertips freeze as I arrange the photo. I tell myself the discomfort is worth it, because when will we be here again to see these wintertime Seoul sunsets?
