Beneath giants in winter...

February 23rd, 2014, 12pm

It was 8°C with scattered clouds. There was moderate breeze.

This is a quiet cathedral, missing its roof. Winter has forced these giant trees into frozen form, leaving the ground and me exposed to the wind and rain.

These Irish winters keep my feet wet, and I focus my thoughts on the changes we’ll see in two months time, when the sleepers will wake and stretch their verdant stained glass canvas above our afternoon walks once more.

For now, I squelch through the undergrowth, and sigh over spring’s delays.

On August 27th at 7:02am, my daughter, Sophie Evan Payne, was born. I am astounded. I'm just a melancholy pumpkin on springs. I'm also a filmmaker, joyously married, proficient at flute and guitar, decent at chess, and enjoy cooking. I'm doing my best to make an amazing life for my family.
