The sunset cast its rays on the shore as the beachgoers dragged their clutter back into their cars, puttering off to leave the waves alone for the night.

July 15th, 2013, 7pm

A few seagulls littered the coast, eyeing everyone with curiosity, and no doubt expecting a meal after the dunes became deserted. As the briny sea crashed against land, the evening sky beckoned weary families to drive home, shower off the clingy grains of sand from their bodies, and collapse into a pleasant slumber, the memory of ocean waves easing them out of consciousness.
