Hoping to see the LADEE rocket launch

September 6th, 2013, 11pm

It was 17.2°C. The wind was light.

While not much to actually see, it was still pretty incredible. About a dozen or so gathered at the pier to watch the launch. Right on time, a small glowing streak came rising up in the south. The streak vanished briefly, the barely visible detached stage falling away. Seconds later, the next stage ignited with a small poof and the streak resumed, arcing east over lower Manhattan. Inspiring.
