Chasing James Turrell: NYC Edition

August 25th, 2013, 9am

It was 20.6°C. The breeze was light.

So, if I see two Turrell exhibitions in two different time zones on concurrent Saturdays does that make me a groupie?

BJ and I have gotten so used to standing in line for an hour prior to dinner at State Bird Provisions that we didn’t bat an eye at getting to the Guggenheim early for Aten Reign.

No photos inside the exhibition1 so I took to snapping the signage outside. I feel there’s order in the world when I see vinyl adverts for JT on the lampposts along Central Park.

  1. Charlie Rose asked Turrell why his works didn’t photograph well. Turrell said (and I paraphrase) it’s to make up for all the bad art that photographs beautifully.

Cassie and Craig said thanks.
