while on our way by car to tour our new house, we were not too far off from the famous Longwood Gardens and the Brandywine Museum, home to some of Andrew Wyeth’s works. i spotted this scenery. we were in Andrew Wyeth’s territory. could the land that gave Wyeth much inspiration also bless me with the same? who knows.
an artist said that inspiration is not something you have to travel far to capture, and he has resolved with himself that inspiration is just outside his doorsteps. indeed he is right, for i have made interesting drawings and paintings of subjects that i and everyone else have not given much thought—we tend to walk by them unnoticed. can you say “house blind”? for example, a traffic cone or an entrance to a city townhouse. nevertheless, i will be moving into Wyeth’s territory, Brandywine Valley. how cool is that? a swift kick in the butt is in order if i whine that i have nothing interesting to paint!
