Turtlenecks.

January 10th, 2014, 1pm

It was 11.7°C with few clouds. The breeze was light.

According to Wikipedia, the turtle or “polo neck” has been worn since at least the mid-15th century. In a section entitled “The turtleneck as rebellion against the tie,” the page claims that “Turtlenecks have historically (and controversially) acted as substitutes of the traditional and dominant shirt and tie look.” Ecosalon adds that “In this age of so-called fashion democratization, the pullover with a high collared neck still has a powerful allure that communicates, “I’m different” and that turtlenecks are “at their best worn with skinny jeans, slim fit trousers or a pencil skirt.”

I, for one, think the turtleneck is best worn by a turtle. Getting it over the shell must be a bit tricky, but otherwise: what panache.

Sunny and Craig said thanks.
