「はい、カウンター2名。」
「お喜びで。」
Sushi chef: “Two, seated at the counter.”
Hostess: “It’s absolutely my pleasure.”
Japanese is particular. There are four types of speech — two, are honorifics: 敬語 keigo (extremely formal) and 丁寧語 teineigo (formal).
The above, is the former honorific. An extremely polite level of welcoming and warmth. A level of customer service even rare in one of the politest nations Japan — especially in Tokyo.
Kyoto, is warm. Charming, and kind.
I love everything about this city that still has so much of its history preserved.
Do please visit if you have the chance.
Glimpses of a small part of Kyoto I was able to squeeze in:
Twilight at Kamogawa river
Notes on Living Outside Cultural Norms. A Chance Meeting.
In which I inadvertently made a new friend.
Beautiful breakfast for a beautiful Kyoto morning.
In Kyoto, there are cabs with heart shaped taxi signs. I heart Kyoto, too.
