Enamored by Kyoto.

It was 8°C with few clouds. There was moderate breeze.

「はい、カウンター2名。」
「お喜びで。」

Sushi chef: “Two, seated at the counter.”
Hostess: “It’s absolutely my pleasure.”

Japanese is particular. There are four types of speech — two, are honorifics: 敬語 keigo (extremely formal) and 丁寧語 teineigo (formal).

The above, is the former honorific. An extremely polite level of welcoming and warmth. A level of customer service even rare in one of the politest nations Japan — especially in Tokyo.

Kyoto, is warm. Charming, and kind.
I love everything about this city that still has so much of its history preserved. Do please visit if you have the chance.
