Bundled up in my winter gear, with my hand on the camera shutter and my gaze fixed on the heavens, I forgot the triumph and exhaustion of the trip. The challenges of meltwater and snowy cliffs disintegrated in the vastness of the night, becoming a small part of the majesty of nature that had brought me to this place.
A light wind tumbled down the mountain pass and a shooting star blazed in front of Orion. I left the intervalometer on and slept until my camera battery died.
