Apple is having server issues today. It took forever to get a stable connection to download the update.

Once I updated it kept telling me it couldn’t connect to the activation server, so that took another couple of hours. Then there was another matter: I changed the email address for my Apple ID in the last year. It used my new address to restore from backup but logged my old address for purchases, so I had to sign in twice, with my browser open to the Apple ID account page, and I had to change my ID and click “Save” between step 1 and step 2 so it would associate the same account with the two separate IDs they were using.
