The Homer. Mmm, sacri-licious.

October 21st, 2013, 4pm

It was 9.7°C. The wind was light.

I first saw this donut months ago while stopping for coffee at Discovery. My eyes grew wide. The classic donut from The Simpsons! I neglected to actually purchase and eat this perfect replica, probably feigning concern for the levels of my blood sugar.

When I read the words “eat the donuts” last week, I immediately thought of this Simpsons donut. Why would I deny myself this simple pleasure? What’s one donut once in a while?

[Thoreau] valued convening with nature, going slow, stepping back, and—this is the donut part—accepting help. Thoreau was independent and he isolated himself, but he was not alone. Each week, his mother and sister would come to the cabin with pastries and donuts. And you know what? Thoreau ate those goddamn donuts.

As I’m enjoying my indulgence, I hear a girl exclaim at a nearby table: “I just want to find a designer and pay them to redo our website!”

Everything’s coming up Milhouse!
