Bazaar of the perfumers.

December 27th, 1849, 4pm

Bazaar of the perfumers. Visit to the Catholic bishop - refectory - good diner with these gentlemen; there are two types of Savoy cakes. There is no way to get anything out of them; after twenty minutes of conversation almost with myself, I leave the company. Tomb of the Califs, where Maxime was doing photographs. From the Tower - entrance to Cairo - everything is in the shadow, except around old Cairo a golden hole in the sky as a background to a few black minarets - Cairo with lights.
