Broken leg, neighborhood view à la Rear Window.

July 17th, 2013, 11am

It was 16.7°C with overcast. The breeze was gentle.

Sometimes Hollywood narratives influence my moments of self-reflection. Life has been much like Jimmy Stewart’s in Rear Window - immobilized in an apartment with a constant view of nearby buildings and neighbors.

I work from my new home in Oakland. In hopes of negating the potentially stir-crazy effects of this, I get up every morning for a self-fulfilling run around Lake Merritt. That was until I badly sprained my body. My left knee is currently inutile. I can imagine myself as a jellyfish, relying mostly upon my upper body strength to propel through space.

Honestly, it’s not that bad, but I can only walk for minutes at a time. Contrary to my motivations, I won’t be running around the lake anytime soon :-(

Cassie, Tom and Allen said thanks.
