We took a late ferry to the island and drove across the fields with the windows down and music roaring. By the time we reached the beach, the sun was nearing the horizon and the wind was starting to pick up.
The waves tumbled onto shore as we skipped stones and jumped in the sand. I strummed my guitar and we lit a fire, content to let the dusk roll in. By the time we headed for the trail, the stars were shining above the trees.
