To fall asleep

September 17th, 2015, 6am

It was 22.8°C. The wind was calm.

You know you’re falling asleep when you rock your head back and forth and you hesitate; maybe forget what you were going to do. When your eyes are hazed and you cradle yourself until your head starts spinning and your eyelids refuse to stay open even if you wash your face and chew gum and slap yourself on the face.

It’s a hopeless feeling.

Everything you see is crashing into a dream state and stars light up above you and you just want to close the lights, throw on top a cozy blanket, and snooze. But you remember, you can’t! You have something really important to do. Homework is due when the clock strikes twelve.

But then you know that something went wrong when you wake up at five in the morning only to find that you’ve been signed out of the class and you haven’t turned in your assignment. “Where am I? What time is it?” Is the first thing you question. Then you remember and you think you might just scream or cry.

You could only blame this on two things; falling asleep and yourself.
