What to do when the front cover of an old paperback rips off? Use it as a bookmark, of course!

Looking for decent bedtime reading (Donna Tartt’s The Secret History, while a great novel, was decidedly not the best choice for that purpose), I found this thing amongst the old paperbacks on my bookshelf. This book has to be at least 20 years old. Damn —- I have a bunch of friends who weren’t even born yet when I bought this book.

The paper has not aged well. The material? So far, not bad. But there’s always that magic of reading a book you read at age 9 again at age 29 —- it suddenly explodes in hidden meanings and clever technique. It looks like a whole bunch of books from that shelf are in danger of losing their shirts soon!
