She always fought for her family. She is learning to fight for herself now.

December 14th, 2013, 7pm

It was -6°C. The breeze was gentle.

Fought off the Communists and Nazi’s as a teenager when they invaded her homeland. Fought off disease as she gave birth in a Displaced Person’s camp. Fought off life’s challenges to provide for her poor family as they made their way from Austria to Argentina to getting sponsored in the U.S. and A. Fought to keep us all together and appreciate life’s details that only a family can provide. Grandma lived independently for nearly two decades with full mobility. She fell recently and broke her hip. She fought us from calling an ambulance. She now fights to stand again, and is the most determined little old lady in the Senior Rehabilitation Center she’s in. She fights for herself now.

Cassie, Jess and Chris said thanks.
