To one of the best cities in the world, second to none, Thank you for an amazing ride.

Early 2012, I saw my world and the vision of experiencing the so called ‘greener pastures’ crumble when I got denied a visa. I can still recall that day and that feeling of shock and disappointment. That was probably one of my lowest points ever. But life has a way of playing with you..and shortly after, that same year, things quickly bounced back as I was given a second chance and it’s been a surreal experience ever since. In fact the timing couldn’t have been better as I was there at the right time with the best people to share the experience with. :)

I also think for someone who’s been denied something, it makes finally getting what you wanted extra sweet. You learn to cherish and savor it more. That briefly explains why I’ve got this drive to make every moment count and why I’ve done so many things and seen so many places in my brief stint here.

With this chance I was able to experience things that used to only reside in my dreams. I had so many firsts and shared so many wonderful adventures with great people who are now some of my closest friends.

I guess I’ve been exceptionally lucky given that I got this break in one of the most beautiful cities in America and I’m forever grateful every passing day.

There was one day that I found myself biking the lakeshore trail stretch in Chicago from Adler planetarium and going around the bend at Shedd aquarium and as the skyline slowly came into view I found myself on cloud 9. It was breathtaking. I felt like life was so good and that it just doesn’t get any better than this. That moment was perfect. I could relive it time and time again as if it was just yesterday. This was the moment that I wanted to remember Chicago and my temporary American dream by. This whole experience, the past 21 months, was just like this bike ride. Amazing. Surreal. Exhilarating. Wonderful.

But Life is just like riding a bicycle. In order to keep your balance you must keep moving. Nothing lasts forever so it’s time to move on again.. time for the next chapter.

So once again.. Thank you Chicago for the priceless memories. It’s been one of the greatest rides of this lifetime. :)

Crossing out items on my bucket list one moment at a time. I enjoy trying new things, chocolate, benches with a view, chasing sunsets, taking long walks and documenting every moment of it.
