This is the nearest the Writing Squad gets to an office, an airy annexe in The Cornerhouse Manchester hired for the day. The rest of the time we work from home, on trains, meet in coffee shops, a bookshop, a library, a university.

The Squad is a two year programme for writers who join us when they are in their late teens or early twenties. Samantha Robinson was one of them. That’s Sam standing up, helping Danny Broderick lead a Squad non fiction workshop. We looked at a few examples online, talked through possible stories, went out into the city with cameras and phones, notebooks and iPads, and then we made a magazine that you can take a look at here.
