Lu
Beth had never really hated anything.
Until Lu.
Daryl had found her surrounded by a bunch of dead walkers, passed out. He had carried her back to the prison and now they were friends.
Rick had asked “How many walker have you killed? How many people have you killed? Why?”
She had responded all of ‘em with “To many to count”
What bothered Beth the most was the fact that she was so cool. Dammit the world was ending and she was so damm cool. Before everything, she was an activist, the radical kind that used to get arrested all the time. She new how to use every weapon she had in her hands. And she was a latin strong women who traveled with a machete. What troubled her the most was that, ugh se was also pretty. You can’t be pretty in a zombie apocalypse. She had muscles and long hair with fire red bits rougly painted. And a girl with a Harley? Really? Beth bet she had tattos and piercings as well. And she was older.
It was not that she had ever talked to Daryl about her feelings, she wasn’t even sure of those feelings. Plus nothing had ever really happened between them. But those nights when she sang, she could feel his gaze, heavy and warm, and she felt euphoriac when he came closer to the fire to listen.
“No way, I got 25 for sure! You got 19 and you now it sucker” Lu screamed.
“Keep telling that to yourself, we are even” Daryl said laughing.
They had a game of who killed more walkers in every run. Beth might as well turn into the hulk.
“It’s just the meaning of my life now, huh? Killing the dead”
That morning, Lu said that when the world went to shit, se grabbed what she needed to survive. Coffee, pot and her machete. Ugh.
They were just so different.
Later, everyone gathered at the fire. Lu kept talking about how the one good thing about this, was that the environment was healing. Daryl noticed somenthing in her eyes and sat beside her. She could feel his warmth, his familiar smell.
“Somethin’ wrong greenie?”
“No, I just… No”
The flames and the moon were reflecting in his face, Beth’s hands ached to touch him, to be closer. Daryl remained silent, knowing she had more to say.
“Daryl? Do you like Lu? I mean do you think she is atractive?” She had blurted it out like a psycho.
“She alright, but, the world is just different now, people too”
“What do you mean?”
“Just that everything changed, she’s not like you, ya know?”
Beth Blushed
“Oh, Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
“Good I ‘spose” Daryl said smirking
Her heart skipped a beat.
“Do you know why she’s here?”
“Somethin’ about looking for her boyfriend”
Joy is something to be apreciated, and joy is what Beth felt all the way to her fingertips.
“So…” Daryl said “Why don’t ya sing for me?”
